The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) Supported Decision-Making Grant Project
APSI and our grant partners are completing a ten-month project funded by The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) to develop resources and programs that raise awareness of and promote supported decision-making as an alternative to guardianship for Ohioans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This project will make a substantial impact on the understanding and utilization of supported decision-making and other forms of self-determination for individuals with I/DD and empower those individuals to make the best choices for themselves throughout their lives. Professionals who interact with individuals with I/DD and their families will have a better understanding of supported decision-making and other forms of self-determination, so they are better equipped to advise, advocate, and respect the choices made by individuals with I/DD.
